چکیده
Abstract Objective We aimed to investigate the medical characteristics of helicopter hoist operations (HHO) in HEMS missions. Methods designed a retrospective study evaluating all HHO and other human external cargo (HEC) missions performed by Swiss Air-Rescue (Rega) between January 1, 2010, December 31, 2019. Results During period, 9,963 (88.7 %) with HEC were conducted during day, 1,265 (11.3 at night. Of victims time-critical injuries (NACA ≥ 4), 21.1 % ( n = 400) reached hospital within 60 min 9.1 18) Nighttime missions, trauma diagnosis, intubation on-site, NACA Score 4 independently highly significantly associated longer mission times p < 0.001). Ambulance helicopter contribution to search and rescue in North Norway
BACKGROUND Search and rescue (SAR) operations constitute a significant proportion of Norwegian ambulance helicopter missions, and they may limit the service's capacity for medical operations. We compared the relative contribution of the different helicopter resources using a common definition of SAR-operation in order to investigate how the SAR workload had changed over the last years. METHOD...
متن کاملHelicopter emergency medical services (HEMS): impact on on-scene times.
BACKGROUND This study compared prehospital on-scene times (OSTs) for patients treated by nurse-staffed emergency medical services (EMS) with OST for patients treated by a combination of EMS and physician-staffed helicopter emergency medical services (HEMS). A secondary aim was to investigate the relationship between length of OST and mortality. METHODS All trauma patients treated in the prior...
متن کاملCriteria for cancelling helicopter emergency medical services (HEMS) dispatches.
INTRODUCTION In The Netherlands there is no consensus about criteria for cancelling helicopter emergency medical services (HEMS) dispatches. This study assessed the ability of the primary HEMS dispatch criteria to identify major trauma patients. The predictive power of other early prehospital parameters was evaluated to design a safe triage model for HEMS dispatch cancellations. METHODS All t...
متن کاملEmergency medical helicopter operations for avalanche accidents.
BACKGROUND In the European Alps emergency medical helicopter services are regularly involved in avalanche rescue missions. How the helicopter emergency medical system best supports avalanche rescue missions is controversial. AIM OF THE STUDY To study advantages and limitations of the early dispatch of emergency medical helicopters after avalanche accidents. METHODS Data on rescue mission ch...
متن کاملThe impact of parental accompaniment in paediatric trauma: a helicopter emergency medical service (HEMS) perspective
Major trauma remains a significant cause of mortality and morbidity in young people and adolescents throughout the western world. Both the physical and psychological consequences of trauma are well documented and it is shown that peri-traumatic factors play a large part in the emotional recovery of children involved in trauma. Indeed, parental anxiety levels may play one of the biggest roles. T...
